SpacePak Installation in a Chicago English Tudor Home
Description
Tudor homes are quaint and charming residences, providing traditional influences of Old World styles mixed with eclectic and asymmetrical architectural features. This Tudor home in Des Plaines that our team worked on was no exception. However, as it was built in 1928, it has limited space for the ductwork needed to support central air conditioning, so installing modern HVAC systems would be seemingly impossible without compromising the architectural integrity.
In 2002, the American Vintage Home team was called on to provide an air conditioning solution to this charming home. While a small-duct air conditioning system had been previously installed back in the 1980s, it was no longer performing effectively and would need to be replaced. The new owners of this residence chose our team, as we are known as the “Older Home Experts” and are a long-time SpacePak installation contractor.
Equipment Installed
After exploring a few options to help revive the existing system, our team quickly determined that an entire system replacement was necessary. We recommended a new high-performance SpacePak system that would not only meet all current DOE efficiency standards but also would provide the optimal solution to all of their comfort concerns. The upgrade would include both the internal air handler located in the attic and the external condensing unit.
The American Vintage Home team and SpacePak worked directly with the homeowner to answer all of their questions regarding system performance and expectations. Part of this process included a factory-direct site visit to the home to review the installation parameters and address any concerns with the homeowner.
In four short days the homeowner was reaping the benefits of the consistent performance of the SpacePak equipment. Since the new system has been installed, it has provided the comfort the customer desired for their charming Tudor home.
