American Vintage Home is proud to be the largest installer of SpacePak in the country and a recognized HVAC leader for homes with water heating systems. If you own a home in Chicago’s North Shore, we’d love to introduce you to the benefits of SpacePak systems.
Because of our unique experience preserving older homes, we’ve been chosen as the SpacePak installer for historic homes from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin to Galena, Illinois. Discover why vintage homeowners in our area are choosing SpacePak® as their air conditioning system.
SpacePak pioneered and perfected the concept of “aspiration,” which is the use of a high-velocity air stream that gently mixes with the air in the room for a uniform, draft-free and comfortable environment. Hot and cold spots, drafts, and other temperature fluctuation problems that are common with conventional heating and cooling systems or window units are virtually eliminated.
SpacePak’s unique cooling method removes 30% more humidity from the air than traditional duct systems. So, even during the warmest, most humid months, the air in your home will be drier and more comfortable. The equipment operates quietly without disrupting your home comfort.

If you’ve been dreaming of a central HVAC solution for your older home that doesn’t require installing traditional ductwork or window units, SpacePak could be great for you!
A: When installed properly, SpacePak systems generate the same amount of sound as a new conventional forced air system. These systems accomplish this by adding sound attenuation tubing near all the vents. So even though the air is traveling at a higher velocity than in conventional forced air systems, the attenuation tubing acts as a buffer that reduces the sound. The result is a quiet operating system that delivers relaxing, soothing comfort.
A: Yes, if not more so. SpacePak systems remove up to 30% more moisture than conventional forced air systems. This distinction is critical to your comfort level in a high-humidity climate like Chicago in the summer. Plus, there is less stratification, or temperature difference from floor to ceiling, with a SpacePak system. Rooms stay a comfortable, uniform temperature.
A new SpacePak system includes:
A: Generally, it takes 5-7 workdays to install your whole SpacePak system. Of course, the larger your home size, the longer the installation. We take the time to make sure every installation fits the home perfectly to ensure optimal system performance, longevity, and energy efficiency.
A: The supply tubing that travels through the walls and ceiling has a 2-inch diameter on the inside and 3.5-inch diameter on the outside. The main duct line installed in the attic or basement has a diameter of 7-9 inches.
A: Vents can be installed on the ceiling, in flooring, or high up on the wall. Floor vents are installed with a fine mesh screen to prevent anything falling into them. We determine where the vents should go based on your home’s architecture, layout, and square footage, as well as your family’s sleeping locations and traffic patterns.
A: The round, inconspicuous vents come in a variety of different looks including basic white, unfinished wood, finished aluminum and brass, and Victorian embellishment. View the SpacePak brochure to see some examples.
A: Vents are just under 5 inches in diameter. The center opening is about 2 inches in diameter.
