SpacePak Delivers Superior Comfort for Your North Shore Home
The SpacePak system pioneered and perfected the concept of “aspiration,” which is the use of a high-velocity air stream that gently mixes with the air in the room for a uniform, draft-free and comfortable environment. Hot and cold spots, drafts, and other temperature fluctuation problems that are common with conventional heating and cooling systems or window units are virtually eliminated.
SpacePak’s unique cooling method removes 30% more humidity from the air than traditional duct systems. So, even during the warmest, most humid months, the air in your home will be drier and more comfortable. The equipment operates quietly without disrupting your home comfort.
When it comes to AC options for old homes, nobody does it better than SpacePak. Part of the charm of older homes is their vintage design, and SpacePak AC systems understand that. While you’ll be able to feel the difference of a SpacePak HVAC system in every corner of your home, you won’t have to deal with looking at it. That’s because SpacePak was built to blend with your home décor.
SpacePak outlets are small and discreet, so you don’t have to worry about compromising the aesthetics of your home. SpacePak systems are installed within your home’s existing structure without having to tear down walls. This way, you can live comfortably without sacrificing the beauty and charm of your interior.
At American Vintage Home, we know SpacePak systems better than any other company. This will give you peace of mind that any maintenance or repair work we perform will not only be done correctly but will also be done cost-effectively. If you have ever felt that your existing service provider did not have the capability of maintaining, repairing, or resolving issues with your SpacePak system, give us an opportunity to show you what we can do. Our technical skills and knowledge of these systems are unmatched.

When installed properly, SpacePak systems generate the same amount of sound as a new conventional forced air system. These systems accomplish this by adding sound attenuation tubing near all the vents. So even though the air is traveling at a higher velocity than in conventional forced air systems, the attenuation tubing acts as a buffer that reduces the sound. The result is a quiet operating system that delivers relaxing, soothing comfort.
Are SpacePak systems as comfortable as conventional air conditioning?
Yes, if not more so. SpacePak systems remove up to 30% more moisture than conventional forced air systems. This distinction is critical to your comfort level in a high-humidity climate like Chicago in the summer. Plus, there is less stratification, or temperature difference from floor to ceiling, with a SpacePak system. Rooms stay a comfortable, uniform temperature.
What equipment is installed with a SpacePak system?
A new SpacePak system includes:
Blower coil — installed in the attic or basement
Condensing unit — installed outside
Main supply trunk tubing
Individual branched supply duct tubing with sound attenuators
Vents throughout the home
Refrigerant lines that connect the condensing unit to the blower coil
A drain line that runs from the blower to a designated drain
Electric lines that run to the blower coil and condensing unit
Return air filter grille that allows air to travel from the home to the blower
How long does it take to install a SpacePak or Unico system?
Generally, it takes five to seven workdays to install your whole SpacePak system. Of course, the larger your home size, the longer the installation. We take the time to make sure every installation fits the home perfectly to ensure optimal system performance, longevity, and energy efficiency.
How big are SpacePak ducts?
The supply tubing that travels through the walls and ceiling has a 2-inch diameter on the inside and 3.5-inch diameter on the outside. The main duct line installed in the attic or basement has a diameter of 7 inches to 9 inches.
Where are SpacePak vents installed?
Vents can be installed on the ceiling, in flooring, or high up on the wall. Floor vents are installed with a fine mesh screen to prevent anything falling into them. We determine where the vents should go based on your home’s architecture, layout, and square footage, as well as your family’s sleeping locations and traffic patterns.
What do the vents look like?
The round, inconspicuous vents come in a variety of different looks, including basic white, unfinished wood, finished aluminum and brass, and Victorian embellishment. View the SpacePak brochure to see some examples.
How big are SpacePak vents?
Vents are just under 5 inches in diameter. The center opening is about 2 inches in diameter.
